There is a place, between the Tagliamento and Stella rivers, that time has shaped like an island. A territory suspended between land and sea, caressed by the winds and steeped in history. Here, along the ancient Via Annia, which connected Rome to Aquileia, stands Isola Augusta, a name that has always appeared on cadastral maps, and which today tells much more than simple geography. The vineyards of this winery breathe the salty breeze of the nearby Adriatic, sink their roots into compact clay, and produce quality wines with a bold and unmistakable character. It is a demanding land, located in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia: harsh, sparing in quantity, but generous to those who know how to respect it.

1959. A chance encounter. An intuition.
Renzo Bassani stumbled upon two bottles of wine, found beneath the sand and carefully preserved by the estate manager of the time. He was fascinated. In that moment, he sensed the hidden potential of this land.
What seemed like just a simple agricultural estate revealed itself to be much more: the beginning of a pioneering project.
Renzo began to renew the vineyards, restored the old farmhouses, and experimented with new winemaking techniques, driven by passion and curiosity.
Thus Isola Augusta was born: a family winery founded on research, love for wine, and deep respect for the land.

THE REVOLUTION
It is not enough to produce wine; it must be reinvented.
In the 1970s, when the wine world still followed traditional practices, the Bassani family was among the first in Italy to replace chemical interventions with advanced physical processes. By harnessing cold technology, they managed to control must fermentation naturally, giving life to what would become their trademark: "living wine," unpasteurized and intact in its organoleptic properties. A cutting-edge idea, an absolute success.

Massimo Bassani grew up among these vineyards. Since childhood, when he ran between the rows in short pants, he felt that his destiny was tied to this land, to the aromas of the wine cellar, and to the silent work of the barrels.
In 1972, still a law student, he made a decisive choice: to dedicate himself completely to the family farm. He was the one who led Isola Augusta toward modernity, building a new cellar in 1989 equipped with the most advanced technologies, to ensure that every bottle followed the entire production chain: from vine to glass.
Today, Jacopo Bassani carries on that legacy with a contemporary spirit, focusing on internationalization and innovation, without ever losing the connection to the family's roots.
The world changes, but the soul of Isola Augusta remains the same: made of land, dedication, and a gaze always turned toward tomorrow. A landmark in the Friulian Riviera, an emblem of quality Friulian wine and winemaking tradition that looks to the future.
